Woods Construction, Inc. is committed to creating and sustaining an environment free from recognized and potential safety hazards that put our workers, our subcontractors' workers and site/store managers, employees, and visitors at risk. Further, working safely is not something extra we require of our employees; working safely is part of every person's job and is essential to maintaining Woods Construction reputation as the premier General Contractor in the Retail Construction industry. Lastly, promoting the safest possible work environment for our workers is my personal commitment to each employee and his/her family with Woods Construction, Inc. |
Woods Construction’s dedication to safety and environmental responsibility extends past merely complying with rules and regulations. It is our goal to complete every job, no matter how big or small, with the highest quality, efficiency and adherence to the safest possible work practices and environmental controls. This allows us to maintain a hazard-free environment for our workers and for anyone who may be at or near our work area(s). Our commitment to safety is evident in our EMR rating that is consistently below the national average, the dedication of the full-time Safety Director to provide on-site safety training and consultation and the numerous safety awards Woods has received throughout our history in the construction industry. Having a safe place to work is not just our goal at Woods Construction and Interiors, it is the responsibility of each and every Woods’ employee, contract worker and subcontractor, so that all of us have a safer workplace. We take that responsibility seriously and we ask that you also take that responsibility seriously for your benefit; the benefit of your friends, family, and co-workers at the jobsite; and, for the benefit of all of our family members at home. We excel at what we do, and we strive to be a role model in the construction industry.
We provide a full day of training for our employees every year at our Woods Construction Safety Day. Past Safety Day topics have included:
Safety is first and foremost on our jobsites. Our foremen start the week reviewing a relevant safety “toolbox talk” with everyone on site and they conduct weekly site inspections. Keeping a clean and safe workplace is imperative since much of our work takes place in open stores and we realize that the safety all people is extremely important. We keep our employees actively engaged in safety by doing a monthly “What’s Wrong with This Picture” (WWTP) where employees are identifying the hazards that are present and returning the form for a chance to win a prize. These toolbox talks and the WWTP help keep our employees alert for safety issues and helps them make the safe choice while working and even in their personal lives. Making sure everyone goes home safe and sound at the end of the day is our top priority.
